Three Ways to Break from Tradition on Your Wedding Day
There are so many traditional things that can be planned on your wedding day; however, just because things are traditional doesn’t mean that they are necessary. The thing about your wedding day is that it is your wedding day. You have the power to make it how you see fit and how it fits your significant other and you. While I do believe that there is importance to traditions being passed down from generation to generation I do not believe that every tradition passed down has to be done. This blog is going to talk about ways to break away from tradition and create a unique wedding experience for you and guests as well as to give you great pictures and film for your wedding photographer and wedding cinematographer/videographer to use.
1. As the bride plan for a first look with your significant other/dad/brides maid
First looks are so beautiful because they give you intimate moments with your special people in your life without the big crowd being there. In this way they provide special moments for you as a bride with the people that matter the most to you. During this first look with your significant other for example you can read your vows privately to each other or even read letters to each other that you have prepared in advance. This not only gives your wedding cinematography or wedding videography team some amazing content for your film they are going to produce but it also allows you and your significant other a very precious moment to help build your day into the special day that it is.
2. Have a shorter ceremony
Many times, there is lengthy ceremonies with a long itinerary of things that need to happen before the big kiss; however, I am challenging you to keep your ceremony short to allow for more time to spend with the most important people in your life. You have invited all of your guests for a reason why not make the most out of it. This will not only reduce your stress but you will be able to get more pictures and film with your friends and family. You should still have some traditional things if you desire like pouring of two colors of sand to become one or if you are a Christian you could do a first communion as a husband and wife. Just make sure to put the emphasis on the people who are here celebrating your beautiful love story.
3. Spend more time with your guests by skipping things like the bouquet toss and garter toss.
While this is a traditional ceremonial thing we believe that you could make much more use out of your time by spending that time dancing, drinking, and laughing with your guests. It is something traditional to do, but we find that it is not really essential for having an amazing wedding day. These events take away from the precious time you have with your friends and family. Life is short and so is your wedding day. We believe in prioritizing fun and laughter spent with family.
This is your wedding day. We believe that if you break from the tradition you can have a wedding that truly represents you, and one that you can look back on and relish all of the beautiful, fun, and intimate moments that you have created with your friends and family. We believe tradition is important but so is making your wedding unique and fun. Just remember do it your way.
